first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest We are just really getting started today. We didn’t start planting until late May and things are just now ready. I have some corn about 20% and beans still have pretty green stems and are at 13% or 14%. We did some tests and that is about it for harvest so far. We really haven’t run a whole lot.The plan is to start with corn today. I am seeing a little more mold, but it depends on where you are. There are places corn looks great and there are places with mold and sprouts. I think a lot of the corn that was planted really early and got that rain in August and September had some problems with sprouting in the ear. I have not found any in our fields but there are fields less than 10 miles away with sprouting. There are maybe half of us in this area that have gotten started with harvest. The crops are still none too dry yet. I thought beans were going to go the beginning of last week really easy and they hadn’t. I thought we’d better hold off. We tried some corn and it was at 20% to 22%. The stalks are holding up yet so I am not going to be too hasty. This afternoon we’ll really start in on corn if everything comes together. I had a bearing that went out on the unloading auger. We’ll get that put in and then hopefully get rolling. We planted 120 acres of wheat for the neighbor this weekend. It went in really nice. Hopefully it will be up and going soon.last_img
