Xiaomi Mi 6c with Surge S2 processor, 6GB RAM and dual rear cameras leaked online

first_imgXiaomi, in February, became only the fourth smartphone manufacturer in the world — and second in China — to have built a chipset designed and developed in-house. While the first-generation Xiaomi processor called the Surge S1 did not particularly excite those looking for raw fire-power, the company may secretly be working on a more powerful second-generation Surge processor, expected to be called the S2, to silence the critics. The Surge S2 is said to be based on the 16nm TSMC process as opposed to the 28nm-based Surge S1 and will likely launch sometime during the end of this year. Alongside the company may launch a phone, said to be the Mi 6c, to show off the S2’s mobile processing prowess.Although there’s no definite time-line of release, the Mi 6c will reportedly come with an octa-core Surge S2 processor (with four A73 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and four A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz) clubbed with up to 6 gigs of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone is also said to pack a dual camera system consisting of a 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel setup. It is further said to start at 1,999 CNY going all the way to 2,499 CNY.As far as design is concerned, it seems the Mi 5c would be a hybrid cross between the Mi 6 and the Mi 5. It would come with dual curves and a front-mounted fingerprint scanner.Xiaomi’s home-brewed mobile CPU, called the Surge S1, is an octa-core 64-bit processor (2.2GHz quad-core A53 + 1.4GHz quad-core A53) that runs up to 2.2GHz at max frequency. Built on the 28nm High Performance Computing (HPC) process, Xiaomi’s Surge S1 CPU comes with a Mali-T860 quad-core GPU and a 14-bit dual ISP for “enhanced image processing capabilities.” The chipset scores an Antutu score of 64,817, notes the company. Moreover, the Surge ISP algorithm inside is claimed to improve camera light sensitivity by 150 per cent to achieve better low light photos.advertisementAs for the Mi 5c, it comes with an all-metal body — 132g and 7.09mm in thickness – and a 5.15-inch display with 550-nit brightness. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. It sports a 12-megapixel camera on the rear with 1.25 micron ‘large’ pixel size along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and a 2,860mAh battery with support for 9V/2A fast charging. Also Read: Xiaomi launches Mi 5c phone with in-house 8-core Surge S1 processorlast_img
