Anil Kapoor dismisses rumours of Abhinav Bindra biopic being shelved: Great stories take time to be told

first_imgIt was in September 2017 that Harshvardhan Kapoor posted a picture with Abhinav Bindra announcing a film on the Olympic gold medalist. But two years since the big announcement, the film still hasn’t started rolling. And this delay in the film gave way to rumours of the biopic being shelved. However, Anil Kapoor, who plays Harshvardhan Kapoor’s on-screen dad in the biopic, took to Twitter to rubbish the rumours saying that “great stories take time to be told.”Anil Kapoor posted pictures with Abhinav Bindra and his dad Apjit Bindra on social-blogging site and wrote, “Great stories take time to be told! The world will see the inspirational life story of @Abhinav_Bindra on the big screen soon! So incredibly excited for this! @apjitbindra @HarshKapoor_”Great stories take time to be told! A source told the portal, “The Abhinav Bindra biopic, with Harshvardhan Kapoor in the lead was expected to start shooting in fall 2018, but now half of 2019 is almost over and there has been no progress on the film. The film has taken too long and the wait has seriously damaged the viability of the venture. Keeping this in mind the makers have decided to shelve the film completely.”advertisementBut now Anil Kapoor has dismissed all rumours.Early this year, Harshvardhan Kapoor told Mid-Day that “we cannot put a timestamp on this film.””We are currently rewriting the script. Good things always take time to brew. We are quite some time away from having a screenplay, which makes us unanimously feel that the film can now be made,” he told the daily. The 28-year-old actor revealed that director Kannan Iyer and co-writer Abhay Khurana have been adapting Bindra’s autobiography A Shot at History: My Obsessive Journey to Olympic Gold for the big screen over a year now.”His story is different from that of any other Indian athlete. He has grown up wealthy, his struggles are different. Plus, shooting is a psychological sport. So, one can’t feel for Bindra the way they do for, say, the Phogat sisters because his struggles are internal. Kannan and Abhay are in the process of writing a story that is honest to Abhinav and his book. We can’t put a timestamp on this film,” said the actor. On the work front, Anil Kapoor is busy with Mohit Suri’s Malang.ALSO READ | Harshvardhan Kapoor on delay in Abhinav Bindra biopic: We cannot put a timestamp on this filmALSO READ | Anil Kapoor to play Harshvardhan Kapoor’s father in Abhinav Bindra biopicALSO WATCH | India Today Unforgettables: You were my first teacher on set, Hrithik Roshan tells Anil Kapoorlast_img
