A contract worth over $1.2 million has been awarded to repaveabout 8.3 kilometres of Trunk 2, from Taggart Loop to PortapiqueRiver. “We are building stronger roads for a more prosperous future,”said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works.”This repaving project, and other recent ones on Highway 104 andRoute 289, are strengthening our road network.” Dexter Construction was awarded the contract. Work has startedand will be complete by the end of October. The Department of Transportation and Public Works highwaysdivision manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in NovaScotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operatesseven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from districtoffices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney. -30-last_img
