Police blotter Single vehicle collision sends five to hospital

Five people were sent to the hospital following a single vehicle collision on Concession 12 Walpole in Hagersville around 8 p.m. on July 1.Police say that the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Concession 12 Walpole when the driver lost control and struck a railway sign. The vehicle then rolled over.Haldimand County paramedics transported all five occupants to a local area hospital for treatment of their injuries.The driver of the vehicle is an 18-year-old male from Ancaster.The passengers included a 21-year-old male from Stoney Creek, an 18-year-old male, 18-year-old female, and a 22-year-old male all from Hamilton.Traffic stop leads to multiple chargesA 21-year-old Hamilton man is facing multiple charges after being pulled over by police on June 30 in Hagersville.OPP officers were patrolling Highway 6 around 9:12 p.m. when a vehicle caught their attention. A traffic stop was conducted and a roadside screening implemented, which police say the driver failed.The man was put under arrest and charged with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, speeding, failing to surrender drivers licence, and obstruct licence plate.His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days.
