first_imgGo back to the e-newsletterQatar Airways’ flagship A380 aircraft touched down in Perth for the very first time this week.Now in its sixth year of operation, the deployment of the superjumbo on the Perth-Doha route will add an additional 300 seats daily, an increase of more than 44%. Perth is also Qatar Airways’ third gateway in Australia to fly the 517-seater aircraft, following Sydney and Melbourne. Qatar Airways also flies the A350 daily to Adelaide and the B777 to Canberra.Qatar Airways senior manager for Australasia, Adam Radwanski, said: “Our Australia footprint has grown tremendously in the last two years, bearing testament to the country’s robust travel demand. We are hence delighted to fly our iconic A380 aircraft to Perth, offering Western Australia travellers an unparalleled travel experience on board their entire journey with us. Passengers whose final destinations are in Europe can do so on board our ultra-modern fleet featuring the A380s, the A350s, the Dreamliner B787s and the Qsuite-equipped B777 planes after transiting through Hamad International Airport, one of only six five-star airports in the world.”Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown said: “The A380 is the largest commercial aircraft and Qatar Airways’ decision to utilise it on this route, strengthens its commitment to the Perth market. The larger aircraft will add almost 109,000 additional seats annually providing an extraordinary opportunity to bring more international tourists to our capital city and our state. This is a quality aircraft being operated by one of the world’s top airlines and with Qatar Airways’ major sectors beyond Doha being London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Rome and Paris, this opens up new opportunities to attract more tourists from the European market.”Featuring a tri-class configuration of seating in First, Business and Economy Class over two decks, the A380 features a luxurious First Class cabin, one of the largest onboard lounges in the sky, the world’s best Business Class offering and a spacious Economy Class cabin for 517 passengers.Qatar Airways has also put in great effort to optimise the A380 for passenger wellness. Besides quiet, spacious cabins, passengers can also enjoy an extensive dining menu on board. First and Business Class passengers can indulge in an on-demand à la carte menu, with a signature caviar service available for First Class customers. All passengers can enjoy Qatar Airways award-winning Oryx One on-demand entertainment system featuring up to 4000 entertainment options.The launch of the A380 service comes in tandem with a series of recent announcements by Qatar Airways to expand its global network.
