it will mean an end to their popular radio newscasts as of December 31, 2017.“In taking stock of my own life and my company, I have determined that I want to chart a new, more impacting course when it comes to doing ‘the news’ and I am excited about it.   Today, we began informing our thousands of followers and subscribers that we will no longer be delivering news on radio in The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands.”It is a major shift, which we have been contemplating for years and which proved to be the best direction for our company as we move into #2018.“What better time to do ‘the new’ than in a New Year.   People expect change during this season, and we are going to deliver upon  a change which will take us off of Power 92.5FM and Kiss 102.5FM radio stations in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands where we have been presenting news productions since 2010.We will also discontinue news on Faith 98.9FM in Providenciales, a Gospel station; Island 93.9FM in Providenciales, a Caribbean music radio station and Global Bahamas 99.5FM, adult contemporary music radio station and home of the ‘Steve Harvey Show’ in Nassau and Freeport, The Bahamas.“Honestly speaking, it releases us from the schedules and deadlines and gives us the liberty to flesh out important and intriguing news stories because we can take our time, devote the hours to getting to the heart of a matter and show our followers even more sides to the issues of the day.   We will deliver our results in news reports in audio, video and print form.”The CEO, who is the newscaster of Magnetic Media news reports, the voice behind the company’s One Caribbean TV news reports and the host of three-time Telly Award winning, Turquoise Morning TV show explained that the freedom from time constraints is just the beginning.“We will also now be more selective in the news assignments we cover.   Our re-calibration includes a decision to focus on stories with more national, regional or global effect.   We believe the current media landscape in both countries has that ‘handled’.   Our focus will be on the deeper impact of policy decisions, corporate maneuvers, international incidents and the like on our People in the Caribbean, our Places in the Caribbean and our Plans in the Caribbean.   This impacting coverage delivers the news that matters most, and for us at Magnetic Media, that is what matters most of all.”Magnetic Media, with offices in #TurksandCaicos and #TheBahamas will mark a decade on April 7, 2018 and an elaborate ‘Count up to Ten Years’ campaign is to be launched in February 2018.“Our team is like Gideon’s Army; small, strategic, mighty, faithful and guided.  We have achieved amazing goals this year including quadrupling our social media popularity and dramatically boosting our presence on YouTube.  (www.youtube.com/user/turksandcaicosontv) We have so much for which to be thankful, and we are, and that is why we are enlisting major companies to come on board to provide a pool of fabulous gifts for our followers.”Now at nearly 650 original episodes of Turquoise Morning TV show, Magnetic Media is changing the look of the program and the style of its content.“Our focus now will be more deeply on our People, Places and Plans.   We have created, with this announcement and decision, the time we need to really celebrate our Turquoise Morning guests.”Magnetic Media will also launch its ‘Magnetic Media News App’ in January 2018.“This will give our ardent followers and those we hope to gain as new followers in the coming months, a way to follow us and hear from us and see what we are up to in the most cutting edge way and on the go.   We are embracing the changes of the information age and we are doing so with open arms.”The company can be found on Twitter (twitter.com/magneticmedia1); on LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com) and on Instagram: dee242649.   However, the most popular following for the company remains at the website (www.magneticmediatv.com) and on Facebook, MagneticMedia Fanpage (www.facebook.com/magneticmediafanpage).“It was asked of me some years ago; what do you think is the secret to success?   I replied with, “The secret to success is the ability and flexibility to change.’  In faith we are making this change, convinced that this the right season and we are doing it for the right reason.  We are on our way to truly making ‘an impact’ which will mean an amplified voice for the people and issues which matter most.  Our team is ready, the region is ready, the world is ready… it is going to get really loud in 2018.”We hope to see you there.last_img read more

He launched into the spotlight with a cover of Santo & Johnny’s “Sleepwalk” and has since garnered a following of thousands on social media.”I will never underestimate the strength of a fan-girl ever again. A New Bluetooth Device Makes You HandsFree Without the Hurt

first_imgMarch 22, 2011 Growing a business sometimes requires thinking outside the box. Free Webinar | Sept. 9: The Entrepreneur’s Playbook for Going Global This story appears in the April 2011 issue of . Subscribe » Register Now » When it comes to mobile headsets for work, it’s not how you look, but how you feel. And when it comes to the feeling of pure comfort with in-ear wireless devices, there is no beating the Bose Bluetooth headset–the most comfortable mobile phone headset on the market right now.The secret of this 12-gram unit from Framingham, Mass.-based Bose is not only its size, balanced design and good looks, but also its so-called StayHear sleeves, which attach to your ears without the need for messy and–let’s be honest–hygienically dubious in-ear-canal headphones. Expect some trial and error in choosing the right size sleeve for your ear. But once you get the hang of it, you really can place the Bose in your ear in the morning, leave it there and comfortably take phone calls for the rest of the day.Certainly, the Bose Bluetooth is not without glitches. Integration with advanced features like smartphone apps is limited. And while overall sound quality is solid, it’s certainly nothing compared to better hard-wired models. The adaptive audio adjustment technology, in particular, is nowhere near as bombproof as Bose claims. But if you spend a lot of work time on the phone, it’s worth a look. For $150, the Bose Bluetooth provides all-day calling capability and no Star Trek geek factor. And the comfort factor is so high that we wouldn’t be surprised if you forget you are even wearing the thing (until the next customer calls, of course). 2 min readlast_img read more

10 Ways to FutureProof Your Ecommerce Fashion Store

first_img Growing a business sometimes requires thinking outside the box. 6 min read Free Webinar | Sept. 9: The Entrepreneur’s Playbook for Going Global March 26, 2017 Selling fashion is easy. Selling fashion online is another beast entirely. The trouble with ecommerce fashion is the same trouble any highly experiential good faces when it goes digital: Nobody wants to buy it until they try it. While the total US fashion and apparel sector sits at $359 billion, a mere 17% of that — $63 billion — belongs to ecommerce.Sadly, even after you manage to overcome the try-then-buy divide, making sure those purchases stay purchases is even more daunting. According to Shopify’s recently published report on the future of ecommerce fashion and apparel, “The inability to physically interact with ecommerce items has resulted in an online return rate as high as 50% in some cases.”However, having an online store isn’t an excuse to shy away from creating rich and deeply personalized customer experiences. Here are 10 tips to get ahead of ecommerce and future-proof your online store.1. Virtual fittingsFirst and foremost, would-be customers want to know that your clothing isn’t tight in all the wrong places. Old-school size guides are a confusing maze of measurements that most visitors simply ignore. Virtual fittings change all that. For instance, Fits Me, an online fitting room, allows shoppers to enter simple information about their body type — height, age, weight, and body shape — and then Fits Me selects not just the size, but even specific products just for them.2. Augmented realityRight after fit, shoppers want to know, “How will it look?” And models aren’t enough. They want to know, “How will it look on me?” Enter augmented reality. Outside of initial forays by the likes of XBox Kinect, full-scale AR is still a ways off. However, for accessories, the future is now. Take Glasses.com. Its app gives users the ability to upload a photo of themselves and preview the entire inventory on their very own face. This creates a sense of ownership common in in-store buying but often lost in online.3. Social approvalWe all want approval, especially when it comes to fashion. In fact, social approval is often more powerful than self approval. In other words, it’s comforting to think you’ll look good in something. But hearing someone else say it? That’s ecommerce gold. Stylinity leverages this social drive. Whenever someone uploads a photo, other community members can “Like” or “Favorite” their outfit and — get this — can then buy those socially approved looks … piece by piece.4. Crowdsourced designIf you could find a way to predict what buyers like before you even start production, would you pass it up? Of course not. And that’s why you need to start crowdsourcing your designs. Betabrand, an online clothing store, even goes a step further by asking its customers to vote with their wallets and fund the new products they want most. Not only does this meet the predictive requirement as well as raise funds, it’s also amazing content for social media campaigns. It’s a win win . . . win.5. GamificationWant to really engage your customers? Make it a game. Covet Fashion created a free app where users compete to dress up an avatar in real clothes. The outfits are then posted and other users can vote on the best of the best on a leaderboard. Covet awards prizes — i.e., clothes — to top picks and uses its combinations on product-description pages. It’s fun and engaging, and — naturally — the more your visitors engage, the more they’ll buy.6. Big-data analyticsAnalytics is as critical to online sales as stitching is to spotting knockoffs. Could you go without it? Sure. But you might regret it. Unfortunately, most small-to-midsize fashion stores don’t have access to the kind of big-data analytics that Amazon does. StyleSage — where “fashion meets big data” — is changing that. StyleSage’s database combines over 1,000 retailers, 53,000 brands and 64 million products. Oh, and they’ll even keep an eye out for retail-partnership opportunities.7. Machine learningUnfortunately, simply having data isn’t enough. You have to know what to do with that data to put it to work. Or do you? Google Cloud Platform leverages machine learning on your store’s behalf. Its product recommendations engine analyzes past purchases, related searches, popular images and even text to deliver — with near artificial intelligence clairvoyance — exactly what each customer wants.8. Deep personalizationAs a subcategory of machine learning, let me just say: It’s easier for you if people buy from robots, but people don’t want to feel like they’re buying from robots. The answer? Dynamic Yield offers customer personalization using flexible algorithms that create messages in accordance with the user and how they’ve interacted with your store in the past. It’s still a robot, but I won’t tell if you don’t.9. Wearable techAs if you haven’t picked up on the dominant trend here, technology and fashion have officially merged. The Apple Watch and Fitbit Blaze revolutionized why we buy technology. And that was just the start. New entries like Ringly — a “smart” ring that syncs with any mobile devices and alerts you when you’ve missed a call, message or email — and Top Shop’s line of bPay Wearables (shown below) that contain Barclaycard payments chips are continuing to push the two closer and closer.10. Visual searchMost of us are used to the search bar, but pictures are way more fun. Not to mention, far more relevant to fashion. Imagine your customers starting their search with a series of images. When they find something they like, they click on a specific piece of clothing. That product enlarges, along with a host of similar offerings. This is exactly the dream Wide Eyes has made into reality. Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Register Now »last_img read more
